    Notes 
    • Born in Pasadena, CA the second son of Leroy and Lizzie Bertram Ball. The family returned to Kansas soon after Ralph's birth.

      He grew up southwest of Concordia, KS and attended rural grade school and Concordia High School. Although he did not graduate from high school, hebecame a successful farmer and rancher. In the early 1950' s he and a group of like-minded area farmers, organized and promoted the Farmer'sCo-operative Elevator Association. He served on its board of director for many years.

      He married Bertha Morgan in 1933. They had four children, Barbara who died in 1937 of pernicious anemia; Charlotte Ann; David Allen, who diedaccidentally in 1984 of carbon monoxide poisoning; and Carolyn Sue.

      He continued to live on the family farm after the deaths of Bertha and David, with whom he had farmed for many years; until 1993 when a series ofhealth problems, mainly heart related, forced him to enter Mt. Joseph Care Home in Concordia, KS.

      Obituary:
      Concordia - Ralph A. Ball, 88, died Tuesday, April 18, 1995, at the Mount Joseph Care Home.

      He was born Aug. 26, 1906, in Pasadena, Calif., to Roy B. and Lizzie (Bertram) Ball. He attended Concordia High School.

      He married Bertha A. Morgan in August 1933 in Clay Center. She died April 13, 1984. He farmed southwest of Concordia for many years, later movingto town. He moved to Mount Joseph Care Home in 1992. He had served on the NCK Electric Coop Board and theboard of the Cloud County Coop ElevatorAssociation. He served on the board of the directors of the Elk State Bank, Clyde, and was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge in Concordia.

      Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Ostrom, Plainville, and Sue Gum, Pueblo, Colo.; a sister, Lola Lies, Salina; nine grandchildren; and 19great-grandchildren.

      He was preceded in death by a son David; a daughter, Barbara; a sister, Lova Hollinger; and an infant brother, Henry Ball.

      Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Chapel, Concordia, with the Rev. James Autrey officiating; burial in the Pleasant HillCemetery, Concordia.

      Visitation is today at the funeral chapel.

      The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or to the organization of the donor's choice.
