  Notes	Obituary: Lifetime Centralia resident Violet Marie Smith, 73, died Sunday, Dec. 1, at her home. Born in Ipswich, S.D., to Henry and Hazel (Ellis) Allbee, Feb. 18, 1929, she moved with her family to Centralia as a child. She married Melvin Smith. Smith was a member of Salvation Army Church and was active in the Women's Home League. She sacked items at the food bank and visited nursing homeshelping with tasks that needed to be done. She frequently visited Twin Cities Senior Center. Her friend of more than 40 years, Glen Panard, drove her where she wanted to go and helped herremain active. Her parents, husband and eight brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Lester Hayes of Klawock, Alaska; a brother, Art Allbee of South Dakota; sisters, Billy Peissner of Olympia, and EdnaSpatonic of South Dakota; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A memorial service for Smith will be held in January. Arrangements are under the direction of Brown Mortuary Service, Chehalis. [The Chronicle (Centralia, WA) - December 11, 2002]
